During this workshop, Sam Newman will guide you through the process of modernizing an existing application, focusing on migrating towards a microservices architecture. The session will begin with an introduction to the basics of microservices, followed by an exploration of the benefits they can offer for legacy applications.​

Participants will gain insights into making strategic decisions in the early stages of migration, learn patterns for incrementally extracting functionalities, and address the complexities of separating data from a database.

Meet the speaker

Sam Newman is a tech expert focusing on the areas of cloud, microservices, and continuous delivery – three topics which seem to overlap frequently. With over 20 years of experience in IT as a developer, system administrator and architect, he provides consulting, training and advisory services to startups and large corporations. 

Sam is the author of the best-selling books such as "Building Microservices" and "Monolith to Microservices", published by O’Reilly. He's also an experienced speaker at various conferences.
