You've probably seen it in dozens of job ads – "work with the latest technologies" sounds great, right? But how often is that really true? At twoday, though, it's different. Working with cutting-edge tools isn’t just a selling point – it’s genuinely part of our everyday work. That’s because our BI team follows a clear and deliberate strategy: we focus on customers who already use modern technologies or are actively moving in that direction.
As a result, our tech stack is modern, diverse, and always evolving. Most of our tools are Azure-based, but we’re not limited to Microsoft solutions – some of our customers picked Google Could as a main platform to build solutions, and when it comes to integrations so we have full suite of different sources where data is being read from (SAP, Parquet, CSV, File Share, different APIs, Postgres SQL, etc). In our day-to-day work, we use a wide range of data platform tools: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and more. If you're from the "data world" it probably won’t surprise you that we use Python for data transformation and analysis – alongside other programming languages like C# and Java.
A couple of years ago, the BI team was introduced to Microsoft Fabric – the latest and greatest in data platform technology. It brings together data storage, ingestion, and processing into a single unified environment. While this new platform is still being explored and tested across the broader market, we at twoday have already implemented numerous proof-of-concepts (POCs), and some of our largest clients are now running Microsoft Fabric in their production environments. This proves our commitment to working with cutting-edge technologies – and how, at twoday, we have the opportunity to work with them early on.
Leading technology stack
The technology stack is probably the most exciting part – so let me walk you through what we use in the twoday BI team. Of course, it varies from project to project, but here’s a general overview of the tools we work with on a daily basis. Our tech stack is primarily built around Microsoft technologies, with Azure cloud services playing a central role.
We can group our technology stack into four key categories: data integration, data processing, data visualization, and data analysis.
- Data integrations: we use Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Functions. Additional tools include Aecosoft, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power Query.
- Data processing: our main technologies here are T-SQL, C#, Java, and of course – Python notebooks in Databricks.
- Data visualization and modelling: we rely on the well-known tools Power BI and Tableau, dbt.
- Data analyses: this involves a mix of platforms and tools, including Anaplan, Power BI, Databricks on Azure, and Microsoft Fabric.
Our data engineers and business intelligence developers also work with various data modeling and storage techniques, including Data Vault, Dimensional Model, Data Lakehouse, Tabular Model or Data Lake. Across the board, our BI projects aim to follow best practices for CI/CD by leveraging source control and versioning tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
By aligning with twoday’s strategy of collaborating with large, forward-thinking customers – those ready to embrace modern data platform solutions or migrate to the cloud – we’re able to work with cutting-edge tools and methodologies, rather than legacy systems. For us, the question isn’t if we’ll adopt new technologies, but rather when we will adopt them. We prioritize code quality, uphold high performance standards, and continuously embrace innovation.
Diverse projects portfolio
We work on long-term projects that involve large volumes of data across diverse industries – including finance, mining, transportation, logistics, and even paper manufacturing. Each project brings its own unique data challenges, providing continuous opportunities for learning and professional growth.
A single customer may have multiple data projects – one might involve near-real-time solutions, while another could focus on cost estimation processes that require implementing Azure-based services tailored to specific needs.
Experienced team and learning opportunities
Our BI department is powered by a highly experienced team, with the majority being senior professionals. This level of expertise creates a strong environment for knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and effective collaboration. In twoday Lithuania, our BI team consists of 36 members. Across the broader twoday Group, we’re part of a network of over 700 BI developers.
Of course, learning from peers is just one part of the picture. At twoday, we take professional development seriously and actively encourage every team member to grow their expertise. Whether it’s through attending conferences, earning certifications, or exploring external learning resources, we’re committed to staying ahead in the ever-evolving BI landscape.
Company culture – people first
Just as important as new technologies and exciting projects is our company culture. From the very beginning, we've put a lot of effort into making twoday a great place to work for developers – and we’re confident that we’re on the right path. In fact, company culture is one of the most common reasons our team members give when asked, "Why do you work at twoday?"
The "People First" principle is deeply embedded in our DNA – and it’s something we practice every day. At twoday, we don’t have traditional managers; we have coaches who support and guide rather than push. We believe that nothing is set in stone. If you see an opportunity for improvement – whether in your project or in how the company operates – you’re encouraged to speak up. And if you can make it better, go ahead and do it. Building a workplace where people truly want to be is a shared responsibility
Strategic direction and future plans
The entire twoday Group is strategically focused on becoming a leading provider of Data and Analytics services. To achieve this, we’re actively acquiring companies that specialize in this field and expanding our teams. That means you’ll be joining a company that not only understands the value of data but is also investing heavily in this vision. In Lithuania, our growth strategy centers on team expansion – offering plenty of opportunities for both professional and career development.
